We were thrilled to host author Raynor Winn for an evening at The Wellington, Boscastle, for an intimate talk about her book – The Salt Path – ahead of its film adaption release in June.

The Wellington’s grand Spyglass Room was transformed into a warm and intimate space for the occasion, where more than 60 guests gathered for welcome drinks and nibbles inspired by the South West Coast Path before an hour of inspiring conversation.

The evening saw Raynor open up to guests with a deeply personal insight into her journey, from walking the rugged South West Coast Path to seeing her story brought to life by Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs on the big screen.

After the talk, guests had the chance to meet Raynor, capture a photo and have their special-edition books from Penguin Publishers signed; a highlight for many who have been deeply moved by her story.

£5 from every ticket was donated to the PSPA via the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust, which supports worthy causes across the South West, seeing a total of £300 raised.

As an ambassador for PSPA, the charity is close to Raynor’s heart; it supports people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) – which Raynor’s husband, Moth, was diagnosed with around the same time they lost everything and embarked on their coast path journey.

With its breathtaking coastal setting, The Wellington is the perfect place to begin a South West Coast Path adventure and perhaps even walk in Raynor’s footsteps.

The Spyglass Room, which has its own entrance onto the newly built outdoor terrace, is the perfect venue to host an array of special happenings. To enquire about booking the room, email info@wellingtonhotelboscastle.com.
